Intended Audiences - Questionnaire



Q1. I decided to ask this question so that I was aware of my main target audiences age; as you can see, the 15-18 age bracket was selected the most. This question will be used in conjunction with the later ones to determine my demographic.


Q2. This question doesn't carry much weight in terms of the outcome of my product, but I was just curious to see if both male and females listened to contemporary R&B/Soul which can be seen in later questions.


Q3. This was an important question that needed to be asked. 21 people completed this survey and from that, about 40% listed R&B/Soul as their favourite genre which clearly displays to me that it is relevant and would sell well especially with a music video.


Q4. Yet again, this question doesn't carry much weight but I included to satisfy my intrigue.



Q5. This question is key because it is important that my target audience actually know who the artiste is so that they can buy into the brand image by watching the music video.

Q6. My chosen song is 'Wicked Games' so it is important that my audience is aware of the song because they would be more likely to go and watch its music video which is key to its success.


Q7. Probably the important question; it tells me that the majority of people whole answered this question watch music videos so from this I can assume most people would watch music videos some way or another.


Q8. Leading on from the previous question, I needed to know how people that watch music videos consume them. From these results you can see about 30% of people don’t but the majority do and they most commonly use YouTube.


Overall this questionnaire has helped me determine my target audience. It is late teens to early adults because those two in the results proved to have the highest percentages. Furthermore my song is explicit so this age bracket fits that nicely.

Moreover I am pleased with my decision to choose the R&B/Soul genre as well as choosing the Weeknd as my artists and his song 'Wicked Games' as these three components together will make a popular contemporary music video that will be regarded highly by fans and hopefully will encourage more people to buy into the Weeknd's brand.


My music video will be primarily shown through streaming sites such as YouTube and Vimeo with an exclusive deal with Apple Music to promote my music video via their services to help obtain a larger audience and an increased fan base.
