History of the song

"Wicked Games" was the debut single by the Canadian singer The Weeknd. The song  was originally recorded for The Weeknd's 2011 mixtape House of Balloon; moreover, it was remastered and then released on his 2012 album Trilogy.


The single was released on October 22, 2012, by XO and Republic records. Upon its release, it became critically acclaimed and by May 9, 2013 "Wicked Games" was certified double platinum and featured on the soundtrack for the film Southpaw. The executive producer of the soundtrack was American rapper Eminem who later went on to produce a remix of the song "The Hills", originally sung by The Weeknd.
